A little about yourself (i.e. what town you live in, where you grew up, family members, pets, occupation, etc…)? I have lived in Pendleton, IN since I graduated from Ball State – that has been 40 yrs ago. I grew up only an hour away in Winchester, Indiana. My husband, Xavier, and I have been married 41 years, and have two children and 5 ¾ grandchildren. We met as chemistry lab partners and both taught science our entire career; I retired from chemistry teaching in the Anderson Communiity School system 2 years ago.

What are your hobbies besides glass? I do decorative oil painting and I sew – both of which have been on the back burner since I discovered glass. And I play with grandkids.

How you got into glass? I received a Lilly Teachers Creativity grant in 2004; the title was Glass Alchemy: The Connection of Art and Science. When I discovered my old back couldn’t take the strain of hot glass, I moved into lampworking – happily :)

Favorite glass quote or saying and why? I, too, love Michael Barleys' “It’s just a bead!”

What you love about glass? I love its fluidity and the way it interacts with light. Transparents are my favorites! I am also fascinated by the reactivity of the various metals and metal oxides incorporated in it.

Where you sell your glass? Twigs in Pendleton and a few festivals – and I have a few regular customers and friends who come to my home.

Any publications where you’ve been featured (if applicable)? Nope.
